Message to our patients – update on the COVID-19 Spring Booster programme

Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight the NHS is working extremely hard to roll out the COVID-19 Spring Booster (4th) vaccination programme to our communities, as well as continuing to vaccinate those groups that still need their Booster (3rd) or anyone who still needs vaccinating.

We will be contacting patients who are 75 or over for a further vaccination (6 months after their previous vaccination), as well as our severely medically immuno-compromised patients (3 months after their previous vaccination).

Please do not call us about any COVID vaccination enquiries.

We are offering appointments both at Twyford and Colden Common Surgeries.

Our very successful COVID-vaccination clinic at Colden Common closed at the end of January and we are now concentrating on our own Twyford and Colden Common patients.

Patients may already have been contacted by the National Booking System for their Spring Booster vaccination and booked their appointments, please feel free to attend these appointments.

Finally, we encourage everyone who is aged 18 and over, is yet to have their booster and who is approaching 3 months from your second vaccine to use the National Booking System to arrange your appointment when you are able to do so, and we will also contacting these patients in due course.

If you are yet to have your first or second dose of the vaccination then please do come forward and have these.

We urge you keep our phone lines free for patients to call with non-vaccination healthcare needs. The NHS will share details on other ways to access booster appointments across our communities as soon as possible.

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination status

Through the NHS App

You can now access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App. You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or tablet. Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel. Children over 13 can set up their own NHS app account.

By calling 119

If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 working days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach you.

The letter will be sent automatically to the address registered with your GP. The 119 call handler you speak to will not be able to see your address to check this with you. If you’ve recently moved house, make sure you’ve given your new address to your GP practice before calling 119.

Do not contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status or recovery from COVID letters.

Digital NHS COVID Pass is now available to children aged 12 to 15

The NHS COVID Pass service is now available to 12-15 year olds, accessible via NHS.UK for those aged 12 and over, and the NHS App for those aged 13 and over. This is an addition to the letter service via 119 that was launched in December.

Both the digital (App and NHS.uk) and letter NHS COVID Pass are widely accepted for international travel. It provides a record of all COVID-19 vaccinations received, with the digital Pass showing evidence of recovery for 180 days following a positive test. International travellers should check the entry requirements of the country they are visiting as requirements for testing and vaccination can vary from country to country.

As well as accessing their NHS COVID Pass, the NHS App will allow 13 to 15 year olds to access other non-personalised services such as Health A-Z, organ donation and 111 online. The NHS App will withhold a child’s medical data unless they have undergone a Gillick competency assessment with a medical professional.
